The Birth of a Mission
Throughout our lives, we may be part of numerous journeys, and if we are fortunate, some experiences will have such an impact on us that they reshape our worldview. Getting to know each new culture brings us closer to discovering our inner world: there are landscapes that, when explored, open our hearts; communities that, once we immerse ourselves in them, reveal an entire universe; and ways of life that open our eyes.
When this happens all at once, we can no longer return to the old, familiar everyday life without taking action.

This is exactly what happened to Péter Hegyi, a successful Hungarian entrepreneur who had already traveled to numerous countries and gained life-changing experiences on every continent. However, Africa became the dearest destination to his heart. Within it, Ghana touched him the most, where he spent considerable time. Although the continent is rich in natural wonders, Péter encountered immense hardship and deprivation.

Poverty in the West African country has reached such proportions that it is hard to imagine from the comfort and warmth of our homes. What we consider basic is regarded as a luxury there: electricity is unknown in many places, schools that accommodate poor children have no roofs, leaving those inside exposed to the elements, and women, who take care of their families, must walk miles every day to fetch drinking water.
Creating opportunities for those in need"
It was a fortunate coincidence, or perhaps destiny, that good intentions and readiness to act met with need and commitment.
During what seemed like an ordinary visit to Africa, life brought Péter and Alidu Shaibu together, a truly dedicated teacher from Tamale.
Shaibu, the passionate educator, became the headmaster of the school and a member of our foundation. He considers the education and advancement of Ghanaian children to be his life's mission.
The Africa Aid Foundation was established to give local children living in extreme poverty a vision for their future and a chance to break free from the cycle of poverty. This can only be achieved through proper education. Every bit of help counts, whether it’s a small amount that might be considered ‘change,’ or even a generous contribution, as regular funding is essential for maintaining the school.
